On Saturday, August 16th, 2025, we had the honor of hosting the 7th Annual Tom’s Tournament of Heroes at Redwater Community Golf Club — and what a day it was! From the first tee-off to the final raffle prize, the energy, laughter, and spirit of giving were truly unforgettable.
This tournament is held in memory of Tom Matthews, who received a double-lung transplant on July 11, 2009, giving him a second chance at life. His passion for raising awareness about organ and tissue donation continues to inspire us. Each year, we gather to celebrate his legacy, build community, and raise awareness about the importance of the gift of life.
The Day’s Highlights
- Breakfast: The Lions Club started the morning right with a delicious clubhouse breakfast.
- Golf: At 10:30 AM, players hit the course, enjoying sunshine, camaraderie, and a few friendly rivalries along the way.
- Lunch: Lunch was generously sponsored by TKO Rentals.
- Dinner: Our dinner, complete with heartfelt announcements, was proudly sponsored by Hedge Co Vegetation Management.
Throughout the day, players competed in exciting challenges, enjoyed good company, and supported a meaningful cause.
Tournament Highlights & Winners
The 7th Annual Tom’s Tournament of Heroes was filled with great golf, lots of laughs, and plenty of friendly competition. We celebrated winners across several categories, including longest drive, closest to the pin, best dressed, and overall team champions.
One of the most meaningful highlights of the day was seeing team Spare Parts, featuring Armand Boucher – Tom Matthew’s son win the Tournament and trophy. Having Armand play and be part of the celebration made this year’s tournament extra special, and what a great way for the trophy to be honoured and remembered.
